DMX512 PC-INTERFACES

All you need for DMX512 data transmission is a RS-485 interface card. There are several interface cards readily available, but these have been designed for measurement and instrumentation purposes and lack the required baudrate and the required protocol. furthermore these interface cards are just interface cards, that is, the host CPU has to take care of the data transfer all of the time. As DMX512 data are sent continuously this takes an immense amount of computing power.

Our DMX512 interface cards are intelligent devices. Once fed with transmission data they take care of DMX data transmission on their own and thus free the host CPU from all these tasks. Programming could not be easier- sample codes are provided for many popular programming languages.

The HARDWARE section describes in detail how to access the different cards and gives easy-to-follow step-by-step procedures in case you want to write your own driver files. Register functions, memory adress tables and switch settings are given. Please check your card type and then refer to the appropriate section.

The 1512A card is no longer in production. Its successor, the 1512B-LC card, is functionally 100% identical but has undergone some redesign and functional improvements. When looking for 1512B-LC support please always refer to: 1512A
